Question: My computer (Workstation) seems to be running Very Slow.
My computer seems to be running really slow. I closed out outlook and is still seems to be really 'lagging'. I have 512Mb memory and it is still slow.
Solution:
Your workstation probably has some 'processes' running in the background. Some common processes that may be the problem: 1. Anti-Virus software is running in the background and causing your workstation to run slow. Fix: Make sure your anti-virus software is up to date. Be sure to run a manual virus scan on your workstation. 2. Microsoft Outlook uses Microsoft Word typically as the 'editor' for emails. The actual process is: winword.exe Fix: Close out [end process] winword.exe if it is running while Microsoft Outlook is NOT running. To do this. Right Mouse Click on the Task bar and click on 'Task Manager'. This will bring up the the task manager screen and show you all processes running on the workstation.
If you can find the 'winword.exe' process, highlight it with your left mouse click and click on the button [End Process]. 3. Be sure to update all your Microsoft related products. This includes your operating system [Windows XP Home, XP Pro, Etc.] or your Office products [Microsoft Word, Excel, Etc.].
